At the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church a medical doctor over sees health awareness.  The Covenant with Black America is a guide that our church uses to implement Covenant I: Securing the Right to Healthcare and Well - Being.

To strengthen the ability of our community to bring about positive change with diabetes a partnership between Jefferson County Extension Center and the church medical doctor work together to educate our members and community.

The partnership has allowed our city to be eligible for grants to inform our community and provide weekly classes on cooking properly for the disease and meters for self-monitoring and management of blood glucose.  This has enabled our church to be on the cutting edge in trying to educate our community. Classes are also moved to churches in the community to provide services for their members.

 Our own Dr. Debra N. Williams has a commitment to keep the public and church informed on proper healthcare for our mind, heart, and soul. We are committed to do the right thing.
